The topic of subdomains… Sub domains are still ranking well, but if you do a ton of them, Google will just not index them out after a certain point. You can definitely use a few, but don’t try to use dozens, hundreds or thousands of them.

We use the 2012 theme, because none of the CCS interferes with anything else, and since you are going to be overlaying, which is the whole point, the theme does not need to look nice, just run very light.
As far as the siloing goes, if you are using WP correctly, then WP does most of the hard work for you.

Peter,
google update so called google sandbox that makes new websites not ranking 1st page for at least 1 month no matter what kind of links you will throw on it
The Google Sandbox does not effect a website from ranking for the first month. That is not what is going on at all. It delays the link juice flow. That is it.…[Read more]

WP standard 2012-14 with custom media queries such that it’s a responsive site. Keep it simple guys – the problem with themes nowadays is that their authors have tried to throw in a ton of extra functions to make them act more like THEME+PLUGINS (thugins…). this unfortunately ruins the WP experience, in that certain themes will now interfere w…[Read more]

I promised Jake a question a day for the forum. I figure with monthly dues at $27 a month these questions will cost less than $1 a day. Not bad for an education.
Some question swill seem very simple, some will be a little more complex. I am attempting to build my foundation of knowledge and I like to lock some things in before moving on. If…[Read more]

Andrew Dale posted in the topic How to implementing schema code for a local mobile business ? in the forum General 10 years, 4 months ago
Well if it is not an exact address you simply enter in as much information as you have. There is not a schema code to just blanket an area. So instead you give them whatever you have. So you may need to leave out the line:
<spanitemprop=“streetAddress”>3102 Highway 98</span>
That is about the best that you can do..
And yes you wan…[Read more]

Looking forward to this as well. I’ve told Becker any number of times I’d love to have a copywriting post on Source-Wave (when he asks for input) but he always moves on to something else.
Kudos. Will definitely watch this when it’s up.Derek,
What did you have in mind?

I would recommend siloing out a category called service-areas and have a page dedicated for each area they service. Spin the content on each page (or better yet get new copies) and set up the schema for each service area.

Ok, for doing the 301 redirects you have a few options:
hard code in the redirects yourself (custom code on the 404 filter to redirect to homepage – this can go in your theme’s functions.php file), but there are plugins that do this already
use a plugin to configure redirects on each page/post…[Read more] - Load More
