+1 from me in terms of the situation BryanZ describes. Same thing happened to me, except I didn’t get the free month. Although I doubt it was a technical glitch that they didn’t do anything until the last moment. I’m pretty sure they did that on purpose to try and get the renewal. That might be me just being cynical though.

A little known tip that works very well is to use Google video sitemap ping. You’ll get your sites indexed in a matter of hours on most normal cases. Instead of pinging a regular sitemap to Google, you want to create a “video” sitemap and ping that to them.
