You wouldn’t. Just customize it to fit the niche or topic. Not every SS site needs to be a massive site. You would just use it on a smaller scale is all.

It’s not. Some of those ideas can be used locally and some are more international.

The way I use the directory page is by putting a link to the page in the footer which becomes another way that the search engine bots can find all my posts, plus it becomes a page that I can send backlinks to as it has links to every post on that page.

Would be interested to know how others are utilizing that page.

If you are using cloudflare I’d say you are pretty safe.

Using some kind of silo structure always works.

Personally I don’t think any of those are necessary with local search.  Press releases and pbn’s will put most sites targeting local terms on page 1.  And if you use branded anchor text and naked url’s in your press releases and pbn’s you are accomplishing the same thing.
