Time will tell and nothing last forever, but my guess is from working with silo sites for a while and talking and reading what the big experts are in the field the guess is that page ranking will not go down for the near future.

I have one silo site that I have not touched in ages and the pages are still ranking great.

Hey Guys….are you finding that once the “bouncing” slows…that they rankings have been stable?  I’m concerned that without adding any new content or doing any additional work to the site that the rankings will slowly deteriorate….

I am ashamed to say I am still doing it by hand.

I put in site:something.com and then randomly pick links from each page of this search result and then past the title back into Google and see the great results.
